Daniel Castillo’s path into the beauty industry wasn’t part of a lifelong plan it was something he discovered naturally. What began as a suggestion and a side hustle cutting hair at 14 years old gradually revealed itself as a true talent. After spending years pursuing a career in the culinary world, Dan realized he was searching for something that offered both creative fulfillment and a more balanced lifestyle. Determined to refine a skill he had already developed, he enrolled at Arrojo Cosmetology School a decision he considers one of the best he has ever made.
With four years of professional experience and over a decade behind the chair, Dan has built a strong foundation in barbering, specializing in scissor cuts, fades, beard grooming, and classic shaving services. His approach is rooted in clean lines, natural finishes, and creating hair that not only looks great on day one but continues to grow out beautifully in the weeks that follow. While barbering remains his primary focus, he is currently expanding his craft and embracing the journey from barber to hairstylist.
For Dan, great hair begins with understanding the individual. What started as a profession unexpectedly transformed him into a people person. He genuinely enjoys learning about the lives, experiences, and stories of the guests who sit in his chair. He believes the stronger the connection, the better he can create a look that feels authentic to the client. One of his favorite moments is witnessing a transformation that leaves someone smiling with newfound confidence a reminder of the impact a great haircut can have.
Dan is especially passionate about helping clients explore versatility within their style. He enjoys working with medium and longer lengths, showing guests how many different looks they can confidently wear while embracing texture and natural movement. His philosophy is simple: hair should be lived in, not overworked. He often encourages clients to wash their hair less frequently and learn to appreciate the character and texture that develops between wash days.
Outside the salon, Dan thrives on adventure and exploration. Whether he’s moto camping through the mountains, climbing, running, snowboarding, freediving, or exploring the Canadian Rockies, he’s always looking for the next challenge. His greatest hidden talent, however, might be his patience a quality that serves him equally well in life and behind the chair.
Looking ahead, Dan’s ultimate goal is to become an educator and travel alongside a team of top artists, sharing knowledge, experience, and inspiration with others in the industry. As he continues evolving his craft, he remains committed to growth, artistry, and helping every guest leave feeling like the best version of themselves.
